Francis Tellier has spent more than 30 years managing radio and TV broadcast operations, with a dedication to the design and delivery of new projects in the field of broadcasting and/or multimedia, where each of these projects combined a blend of strategic, business, technical and operational aspects.

Since 1989 – and his involvement in the host broadcasting of the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics as the Director in charge of General Planning and Venue Operations – his career has included the host broadcasting of many major sports events of note. He was Managing Director of TVRS 98, the host broadcaster of the 1998 FIFA World Cup France™. He is now CEO of HBS, the host broadcaster of the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan™, 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™, 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ and 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, as well as serving as the CEO of both DAGBS (Doha Asian Games Broadcast Services), host broadcaster of the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006, and IGBS (International Games Broadcast Services), host broadcaster of the 7th Asian Winter Games Astana-Almaty 2011.

Since the creation of HBS, Francis Tellier has recruited a multinational and multicultural team combining experienced personnel from previous FIFA World Cups™ and other major sports events, with expertise drawn from the very top levels of the television industry.


LISE Cosimi, Director, Broadcast Academy

Lise Cosimi’s early career took in Eurosport, TEAM Marketing and Paris Saint-Germain. In 1997, she joined the Information & Communications department of TVRS 98, the host broadcaster of the 1998 FIFA World Cup France™. She then joined HBS for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan™ and worked on the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ and the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006 as Information & Liaison manager. For the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup™, she took the position of Head of Information & Liaison. She is now in charge of the CEO Office.

Daniel Wlochovski, Chief Marketing Officer

Daniel has a wealth of experience in supporting right holders and meeting their broadcast requirements. He has successfully provided his experience to benefit organising committee’s and host broadcasters on planning and delivering international standard sporting events. Daniel draws on his professional engineering and sports background to find solutions to the most complex of situations. With a never say no attitude, Daniel has been able to reach his professional targets to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.

With a degree in engineering and strong experience in international sales, Daniel Wlochovski spent 15 years on the professional sailing circuit – primarily in charge of media centres for transatlantic sailing races. Daniel was in charge of HBS Booking for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan™, the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ and the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006. Prior to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ the department became part of the HBS Marketing division, and ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ he became Chief Marketing Officer.



Dan is an expert on creating production plans for sporting events including core technologies and operations; venues and file transfers; managing the IBC workflow; and the multimedia service plan for right holders. Dan is a regular speaker at broadcasting conferences and is paving the way for technological innovations in the field of sports broadcasting to change the way we watch sports.

Dan Miodownik is HBS’ Director of Production. Dan has been with HBS since 2004 and worked on the FIFA World Cups in Germany 2006 and South Africa in 2010. In addition Dan has been HBS project leader for FIFA’s other events since 2004, including Women’s World Cups in China 2007 and Germany 2011 as well as multiple events in Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America. Dan’s career started in news radio in 1991, before he moved to senior roles at Sky Sports, TEAM Marketing’s Champions League operation in Switzerland and at ITV Sport in the UK.



Harry has the ability to achieve the impossible in broadcasting. Harry, in his role as Head of Engineering, has worked in a range of locations and situations, from broadcast automation systems in studios, to transmission systems, to outside broadcasts (OB’s), post-production operations and new media. Harry creates the infrastructure basis that the broadcasting team is able to operate on in order to deliver a high quality production.

Harry Petry joined HBS in 2004 as Head of Engineering. Formerly Senior Engineering Manager for a German system integration company, he was in charge as overall Project Manager for the Technical Operations Centre set-up, the broadcast cabling at the 20 stadiums and the broadcast set-up for both IBCs at the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan™. As Head of Engineering he was responsible for the technical set-up at venues and the IBC for the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World CupsTM.



Gary is essentially a problem solver who is pleased by new challenges and new projects and always strives to make a difference. In his Venue Operations role, Gary works with a range of possibilities to deliver the most effective broadcasting operations plan. He protects the interests of the unilateral broadcast partners and supervises the venue-based broadcast teams that are responsible for organising all venue-based multilateral and unilateral television operations.

Gary Shaw joined HBS in 2000, after a 10-year career in sports broadcasting for Australian network TV had led him into international Host Broadcasting for the Sydney Olympics. His CV includes the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan™, the 2003 Rugby World Cup and UEFA EURO 2004. Gary was then part of the long-term team based in Doha as Head of Operations for DAGBS’ 15th Asian Games Doha 2006 project. Since 2007 he has been based in the respective FIFA World Cup™ host countries as Head of Venue Operations.



Johannes was recently seen participating in a panel discussion at SportsPro on Virtual Reality and discussed the impact on the traditional TV experience. Johannes is a firm believer in the use of digital technology in broadcast to create a ‘wow’ factor for the viewers. Johannes experiments with the use of sports analytics/data to enhance the viewer’s experience and advises his clients on use of digital platforms and how to measure return on investment on sporting content. 

Johannes Franken is the Deputy Head of Digital Operations at HBS. In this role, he is responsible for the development and management of the multimedia services offered by HBS to its partners and clients.

Johannes designed and implemented the multimedia offers provided by HBS for the 2014 FIFA World Cup BrazilTM and is currently handling the evolution of the project for future flagship events. He is also overseeing the Technology and Operations Unit within the Infront Digital Solutions Team, working to develop groundbreaking global digital strategies.

Before joining HBS in 2012, Johannes worked for v3 consulting GmbH, specialising in management and IT-consulting and was previously Head of Production Management for Plazamedia. For the 2006 FIFA World CupTM, Johannes also worked in the New Media Department of Infront Sports and Media.



John Helm has been involved in journalism since leaving school in 1959, working on regional and national newspapers.

A former Head of Outside Broadcasts for the BBC, he has commentated on more than 20 sports during a radio and television career spanning almost 50 years. John has commentated at Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, nine FIFA World CupTM events, and numerous golf events around the world.

He has also been involved with the FIFA Broadcast Academy in the past, conducting courses in numerous African countries. Perhaps best remembered for his commentary on the 1985 Bradford City fire disaster, John has won recognition for his work including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Royal Television Society. He was included in the Guinness Book of Records for being able to name all 92 clubs in the English Football League in 26 seconds.
